Biography
Mr. Ismail Shahid is Partner dealing with Global Affairs of the Firm. He holds LLM and LLB (Hons.) degrees from International Islamic University, Islamabad. Mr. Ismail has been providing expert legal advice and consultancy to clients in private and public sectors in Afghanistan. His areas of expertise include taxation, telecom, financial and banking services, regulatory affairs, customs, licensing, contractual obligations, employment & services.
Mr. Ismail is a licensed by the Afghanistan Independent Bar Association and has the distinction to represent clients in Afghanistan before different courts and tribunals. He has been looks after the government relations of the Firm in Afghanistan and remains in close coordination with different ministries/departments in Afghanistan to keep clients up to date on any change in legal trends and procedures for acquisition of different approvals/permissions/licenses. He has been advising different US/NATO Contractors since 2013 under different bilateral and multilateral treaties to which Afghanistan is a signatory. Mr. Ismail holds immense experience in acquiring private tax rulings for the US/NATO Contractors from the Ministry of Finance under the bilateral and multilateral treaties.
He recently co-authored the Afghanistan chapter on the aviation regime and employment regime of Afghanistan for global legal magazine, Getting the Deal Through – Air Transport 2015 through 2017 and Getting the Deal Through – Employment & Labor for 2015 and 2016.
